So, Osama Bin Laden is dead for the umpteenth time. But since they threw his body into the ocean, we’ll never really know. But will his death change anything? Ten years into the war on terror, the public has become acclimatized the government’s authoritarian posture. And besides, torture, or “enhanced interrogation techniques” have normalized in the minds of the majority of the young, thanks to shows like 24 and video games like Call of Duty: Black Ops. The new heroes are international and above the law. Weren’t we told that our presence in the Middle East would bring lower gas prices? It’s obvious now that was never the plan. Unelected, high-minded advocates of carbon taxes will ensure that prices will continue to rise. Torture comes in many forms.
